Helloooooo and Aslam.o.Alaikum everyone! Hope you all are doing great and are safe in your places. I am back with another review and today the book is from classics and it is “TESS OF THE D’URBERVILLES” by “THOMAS HARDY”.

The novel aims at presenting to us developed characters. If we read the masters of the fiction, we can safely conclude that their work gives us chiefly certain characters which we can never forget. The first quality of Hardy as a novelist is his wonderful gift of developing characters in his novels. No critic has doubted the greatness of Hardy in this respect. The characters of Hardy are true to life. He has not painted the idealistic aspects of life through his characters. We find both virtues and vices, weaving the pattern of life. The members of the Hardy’s world, in short, present should compounds of evil with good as their prototypes on the wider stage of earth. There is however even a broader ground of judgment. If we talk about the Hardy’s Humour then we will see that humour is not the quality that one might expect to find in Hardy, so grand and so gloomy as he is. But it is there all right. Nor is it incongruous with the rest of his achievements. Hardy’s novel lack satiric, caustic and bitter humour. He does not pock fun at the faults, follies and foibles of his characters. He is too much of a realist to take pleasure in caricature; too little of the moralist to make effective use of satire. But one thing, one should bear in mind save when dealing with his rustic characters, Hardy’s characters usually takes the form of irony.

And here’s is the quick review of “TESS OF THE D’URBERVILLES”

Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the d’Urbervilles in some ways is the most controversial of his works. Its bold theme of ‘Seduction’ and ‘Sexuality’ caused the modern Victorian critics to brand it loathsome, disgusting and disagreeable. However, the years have seen it become a classic novel, much loved for its pathetic sadness and profoundly stirring tragic power. Tess is touched by the humility of attitude in the face basic human difficulties and is,like other Hardy heroines—a woman of character and unfailing enduring.

That’s all for today.hope you like it.happy reading and wrting to you all!
